We live in a time where we quickly put people in boxes. Take a look at this powerful video that encourages us to embrance diversity.
The Invisible Knapsack
Teaching students the importance of eliminating their predisposed biases will be critical in reshaping their views to reduce discrimination in society. The invisible knapsack activity was very impactful as it showed the difference among a group of seemingly similar people with different life experiences that have made them the people they are today. As a teacher, I will have the privilege of educating students from various walks of life. It is my duty to treat all students equally regardless of their gender, race or historic disadvantages and I will continuously strive to protect the dignity and worth of all individuals as an exemplar for my students.
DPA
I am a strong advocate for incorporating daily physical activity as I realize that it is a critical component of student learning. Studies have shown that when the physical health and well-being of students is supported, their academic achievement improves as well. The video below is one that I intend on using in my placement to encouarge students to get moving.
